Lessons of the past are directions for the future, this belief has led many designers to borrow elements of yesteryears and blend them beautifully with the trends of today. Not untouched by this creative habit is Katherine Pont whose new collection for MINE saw new cuts and styles with hand-drawn embroideries of the erstwhile years. This autumn collection was a tribute to an Aztec inspired Art Deco and 1920’s screen muses.
The old-school charm was evident in the sheer silk cottons, hammered silk, drapey jacquards and wool jerseys! Also, there were sqaure buttons and bows to transpose into today the classic accessories of the years gone by. Harlequins and pleats were definitely another blasts from the past! All in all a remarkable collection that women cannot strut around wearing down the streets everyday but they will make for quiet an ideal wear in formal settings.
