The Australian Open this year is more like a fashion show rather than a real game of tennis. Millions of fans remained seated like the potato couches glued to the TV all throughout as if some real nail biting session was needed. But folks, it was the fashion scene that was the centre of attraction for all.

Why should the media step back from covering the fashion parade made by the players when the audience is interested more on the designer display? The apparel stores are reaping huge benefit with customers flocking the stores in demand of the clothes sported by the players.

Everyone wants to flaunt what their favorite star is wearing. They are even ready to pay the price. Amongst the popular ones are those worn by the Russian beauty Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams: the figure airtight Nike Outfits.

Inspite of the sports authorities’ restriction to wear clothes provided by the sponsors, the players went ahead and dressed up with style.

So much so was the designer hype that Russian lass Maria Kirilenko went on to flaunt designer Stella McCartney’s new collection of tennis garments that the designer jointly launched with the fashion house Adidas.

The male players too were seen sporting colorful shirts, mostly in lime green and sky blue.
