We have heard loads and loads of warnings against cigarette smoking but unfortunately, some obstinate individuals don’t mind puffing to their graves. But I was more surprised, or rather shocked, to realize that some designers have converted these small cancerous sticks to works of art. From hairpieces, necklaces, rings, earrings, belt buckle, pens and even shoes, designers have cigarette as the chosen material. And, artist Damien Hirst has even created a sculpture with stacks of cigarettes, dubbed the Anatomy of an Angel that went under the hammer at Sotheby’s. I wonder who would buy these items? Maybe members of some indiscreet smokers club or those lucky people who have quit smoking would like these as memoirs of their smoky past.
