A popular bit of urban wisdom professes that if a piece of clothing, jewelry or shoes don’t hurt, they probably aren’t fashionable enough! But there are times when a hurtful bit of accessory defies any logic: fashionable or otherwise. And these jeweled contact lenses by designer Erick Klarenbeek are so not fashionable! You see, the “thing” is a piece of jewellery which is basically stuck onto the front of what appears to be a regular contact lens and hangs down onto your face. Now even though I’m tempted to ask questions about the practicality of walking around half-blinded with a pair of these in your eyes, I’m just going to ask how, if at all, does this make one look glamorous at an event that does not involve ritualistic Satan worship! But then again given its downright gothic appeal, I’m guessing this thing might be the next best thing for kids to piss off their parents with after tattoos, body piercing and teen pregnancy!
