In addition to his passion for football, Footballer Thierry Henry also seems to be passionate abour designing clothes. He almost caused a stampede as he launched his debut collection in London, in collaboration with fashion giant Tommy Hilfiger. For the ace footballer, it is not just the mullah and glamour that has lured him into designing business, as all the proceeds from the sale will be donated to his charity foundation.
To pull the crowds, the sportsman chose to model the collection himself in the window of the label’s flagship store on London’s Regent Street. What was employed as a publicity gig soon required Police’s interference. The cops were forced to hold back hundreds of fans, desperate to catch a glimpse of the famous player, who made his first public appearance in the UK since leaving Arsenal for Barcelona this summer.
The capsule collection designed by the footballer is available in select Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide. The funds generated will be donated to One 4 All Foundation, set up to fight against racism and social inequality. Henry explained:
Its aim is to help underprivileged kids in underprivileged areas. They are the future - not just the kids who have chances and money and the right schools, but the ones from the streets. One of them could be the future prime minister but if you don’t give them the chance then obviously they won’t.
Philanthropy, it seems is the trend these days and nobody wants to be left behind.
