Ruslana Korshunova
July 2, 1987 - June 28, 2008
What can you say about a girl who became a woman and completed her purpose in life too soon? What can you say about her who was named the Russian Rapunzel owing to the knee length chestnut hair that reminded us of an erstwhile caged princess? Someone who asked 3 months before her demise, ‘I’m so lost. Will I ever find myself?’ ...Did she?
Ruslana Korshunova of a Russian descent was discovered in 2003 at the age of 15 after which she never looked back. Vogue’s cover girl, Moschino, Kenzo, you name it and she carried their contracts in her kitty and then on June 28, 2008 it all came crashing down, like someone falling off from the ninth floor balcony of 130 Water Street in Manhattan, NY. A suicide or a Russian Mafia conspiracy, whatever be the case, this Rapunzel has left a vacuum that is as dreadful as she was beautiful, that is as unnerving as she was pleasant and that is as mortifying as she was alive.
