Sometimes one act of goodness is better than a thousand words and one child can do what many adults put together could not imagine! Here is a demontration of one such huge act by National Geographic Kids magazine who set a Guinness World Record on July 2, 2008 for the longest chain of shoes! The shoes so donated will be recycled by Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe Program into material that can be used to build athletic surfaces. More than 10,500 sneakers were tied together by their laces, heel to toe, that amounted to a grand total of 1.65 miles! Such a stupendous effort was supported by Girls and Boys Scouts alike alongwith names like Cameron Diaz and U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team!
The National Geographic Kids Magazine Editor-in-Chief Melina Bellows said,

We’re delighted with the response we received from kids around the country, they embraced this project that benefits the environment, involved their communities and will help other children.

True leaders lead by example and these children are just that!
