The way Martin Margiela has expanded his designs and has sprouted up as a well established designer, it seems that Gaultier, has lost something big letting the designer go. After almost a year, he showcased his collection under his own label. Now, he is one of the most affluent designers. Moreover, even the Balenciaga’s main man, Nicolas Ghesquiere has many times being quoted as saying that he wears Martin Margiela. Well, now you know. Margiela also has a boutique in the West Village in NYC to his name; Barneys sells his designer shoes and his powerful clothing can be found at big shot online boutiques as Yoox and La Garconne.

Coming to his collection, this time I will like to start with a complaint. Why all the designers this season have struck to the same color palette? That is so monotonous! I am seriously bored of the black, the white and the grey. Even if these colors are in that doesn’t mean that you can’t induce a little bit of color somewhere. How intricate the embroideries may be in a collection, how creative the designs might be, these colors are the first reason that restricts me from a second look at the collection. I hope the designers hear me and add some color to their clothing.

The fur coats make me laugh actually and I must admit that all of the clothes are not wearable. Whereas the good thing is that some of the pieces can be worn in both summers and winters, both to office and for a shopping spree. Some of the designs are great, whereas some are quite boring. So, as far as I can say it is a mixed collection where the good balances the bad. So, I won’t complain. However, I do expect something more from a designer liken Margiela.
