You have to be a real marine life/sea food lover to wanna have one of these freaky earrings or pendants ‘made from REAL Sushi Grade Octopus’. Though the company claims that the jewelry contains no octopus remains and is made completely from sterling silver only, the sushi grade octopus thing is just plain weird. I think the makers were trying to tell us that the design of the jewelry is based on Sushi Grade Octopus dimensions and does not have octopus tentacles cast in silver instead, a fact we might have lost in translation. Anyway, since the symbolism associated with the octopus is pretty strong, what with its ability to change colors at will, re-growing lost limbs and their poisonous stings, et al, it kinda makes sense to immortalize the sea creature in jewelry.
However, to be actually seen in public wearing one of these is kinda creepy. It would be like endorsing poaching and illegal fishing of the magnificent marine beast. But if you STILL want to have your octopus (and eat it too!), then the Protector of the Phantom Quartz tentacle pendant and the OctopusME Double Tentacle Earrings are really worth having with their dark oxidation and bright high spot finish. For under $80, you really cannot get weirder or more unique accessories than these ’sushi grade’ pieces!
