OK so for an outsider this might look a little weird, but getting a professional ear cleaner to take care of your waxy ears is almost an everyday phenomenon here in India. Sure the practice has kinda died down with ear swabs being readily available in most stores these days, but those still fade in comparison to the skills of these masters. Armed with a tiny swab of cotton wool on a fine wire rod, these professionals can have your ears wax-free in just under ten minutes and that too for a mere 10 rupees (12 pence). Although the trade is dying down these men can still make a respectable 300 rupees (£3.50) a day. Even though I’ve personally never lent my ears to their professional expertise, I’m sure something like this will soon make its way into high-end salons and I’m damn sure they are going to charge you a hell lot more than 12 pence!
