Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco was one such legendry lady who created history when she unknowingly carried a large black crocodile Kelly bag, in order to cover her pregnant tummy in the year 1956 in New York City. She was photographed by Life Magazine for the cover. The cover girl became so famous for the bag that later her bag was renamed as Kelly bag!
The renowned fashion house, Hermes, which has been making ladies handbags since 1920, has created a limited edition Kelly bag for Artcurial’s annual Hermes vintage sale, featuring a portrait of Grace Kelly printed on canvas.
Believe it or not the bag sold for $80,906, with all proceeds from the sale of the bag going to Princess Grace’s daughter Princess Stephanie’s charity, ‘Fight Aids Monaco’.
