On the onset, let me tell you that I think frills make me feel awkward and schoolgirl type dresses look juvenile. Since Ritsuko Shirahama’s Summer/Spring collection borders on these two trends, I won’t be partial to it. The collection was viewed at the Fashion Week in Tokyo. The first frame sees a pink sheer top teamed with olive shorts and stockings, this particular one is a sleek shot between daring and rebellious, however the frill- collar dress with belt on the right seems to be to pretentious for a teen-bopper.

The Japanese designer next showcased a chic red dress that lifted my spirits, but shot it down with the plain-Jane retro dress, that wouldn’t even flatter Mrs. Robinson.

In the next line, we see the sophisticated approach, with the colorful top and dark pants; the model looks chic and classy. However, the ethereal look with the sheer white transparent top and skirt fails to impress.

This slide showcases a very average white dress offset with a colorful coat. It manages to catch the eye, but the schoolgirl like juvenile attempt with the jacket, transparent top and skirt teamed with black pep toe shoes, conjures up an image of a very naughty girl, who loves to play bad.

This last picture showcases a classy blouse buttoned with a single hook. Concealing, yet revealing the assets in a very chic way. The long gray skirt is constructed to give a little ballooning effect while you flit down the street. This one’s the best of the lot!
