At the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, no eye could miss designer Takumi Shimamura’s unique creations. Her experimentations with Japanese cedar is as attractive as her Monacca’s Kaku briefcase, picture above, which had made a storm in 2004. Her other creations were a perfect blend of practicality and elegance, uniqueness and attractiveness.
This time, the briefcase in classic black won a lot of praise. It is sophisticated and very official. Take for instance the purse that doubles as a lamp.
I personally like the calculator the best. We have been so used to seeing black square calculators that this one comes across as a pleasant surprise. It looks like two round plates stuck together. The buttons are in shades of green and enhance the attractiveness of the calculator.
The stool is unique as well. It resembles a stack of cushions of varied colors. Not sure if it would be too comfortable a chair, as there is no back rest or arm rest. However, it was probably not meant to be a comfortable chair. Its design sets it apart.
