Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair! Looks like Susan Polis Shutz had a premonition about the 2008 summer trends when she wrote that! The annual Village Care of New York’s charity event for HIV and AIDS patients, Tulips and Pansies: The Headdress Affair, was spectacular. Nature met fashion and looks like they had a ball on human heads! Everything from cacti to pussy willow were pulled off with complete grandeur and ease. Various awards were instituted like the most engaging and most beautiful, most outrageous and most original that went to the creative geniuses behind the floral fashion. Playing around with flowers is no easy affair for they wilt at the slightest hot treatment and cannot be sewn across and stapled a lot, delicate as they are, the final products are nothing short of breathtaking! Designers like Betsey Johnson, Catherine Malandrino, Alvin Valley and Magda Berliner, however, put these hair-bouquets together with finesse and perfection and proved as to what an artists they all are! So take a look at the flower power this season. Sarah Jessica Parker was not so wrong, fashion-wise, at the premier afterall, eh?
