Of all the pollution-fighting devices I have ever seen, this one has got to be the most promising. Designed by a NYU ITP student Kristin O’Friel, the CO2RSET actually loosens or tightens around the wearer’s body according to the amount of CO2 in the air around. Thanks to CO2 monitors hidden within the garment’s floral motifs which are linked via tiny wires to the discreet motors located at the back of the corset, the vest is able to detect elevated levels of CO2 in the air you breathe and by a quick tightening action makes you too uncomfortable to stay in the polluted environment. It sounds a little painful and the experience might even be sickening if you happen to be talking to a really hot dude outside the club when a passing car makes your vest go crazy cutting off your lung function and making your face turn a funny shade of blue. But that’s the price you gotta pay to protect your lungs from the big, bad CO2!
