Not that I cannot appreciate a ‘beautiful’ man wearing lip-gloss, but just looking at this series of fashion-disasters that are supposed to be very innovative form of bow ties, I am feeling really offended for some odd reason. And I don’t think it has anything to do with the fact that I think that these hideous ties designed by French designer Alexis Mabille present a serious sexual bias against homosexual men by their prejudicial over-dandification of gay fashion. And yes, I do think these ties are targeted specifically at gay men since I really don’t see how you could get a straight guy to wear a bunch of pink roses around his neck at a formal do. Though these Spring 2008 bowties from the Impasse 13 line claim to be unisex I wouldn’t want anyone of my friends- gay/straight/male/female/cross-dresser- to be caught dead in one of these. Although I wont actually mind taking a few of these to the Mardi Gras. Huh… I guess when you take them out of social context; these ties aren’t so bad after all!
