wag hag

Her only claim to fame is that she is engaged to British soccer star Wayne Roonie and her only talent it that she can find the best designer picks to look good in the tabloids. And that is all it took 21-year-old Liverpudlian Coleen McLoughlin to capture the nation’s attention as the influential fashion role model in survey carried out for women’s magazine Look. There were more WAGs on the list, including Victoria Beckham on the fourth spot and love-rat Ashley Cole’s wife Cheryl on the fifth confirming the nation’s obsession with soccer stars and their supposedly glamorous lives.

But that didn’t mean that regular fashion and movie stars were left out of the list, oh no sir-ey! Coke-hag Kate Moss came in second and screen goddess Sienna Miller rounded up the top three while singers Kylie Minogue(6), Gwen Stefani (7) and Lily Allen (9) made the also-rans with actresses Keira Knightley and Angelina Jolie taking up eight and tenth spots respectively.

More disturbing than the list of icons the nation’s young women looked up was the fact that the surveyed women claimed that they spent almost three times as much per month on their appearance (£228.41) as they did on groceries (£83.25) which frankly begs us to ask whether fashion today has become more about cashing in on a young woman’s low self esteem issues.
