If you thought Japan’s obsession with mascots was unnatural, here’s another new trend that will leave you disturbed beyond belief. Apparently the hottest new trend in the Asian nation is Anime Eyes, i.e. using specially made contact lenses to get those funny, extra large, cartoon-like eyes as made popular by the anime comics. And since I’m told Japanese dudes totally dig those unnaturally large watery eyes, chicks in that country are resorting to wearing these extra-wide contacts that effectively bring out their eyes and make the rest of their face look smaller. The illusion is created via the prominently tinted extra-wide outer ring of the lenses that makes the iris look bigger and wider. At $30-$50 per pair, the lenses are even made to order according to individual prescriptions so technically you can make your eyes look as wide as you want! Yikes!
