Italian designers these days are fearing China’s manufacturing prowess that threatens to unravel the fashion industry in Italy.



The Chinese are improving on quality and are simultaneously focusing on mass production also. Everything from accessories to zippers is increasingly being produced in China - sometimes with Italian machinery.



The more problematic issue is production of counterfeit products in China like Gucci handbags and Valentino sunglasses that are exported to Italy where they are sold for a fraction of price of the authentic product.



Italian designers main concern is the marginalizing Italy’s textile industry.
